Good questions,
honest answers.
Everything we get asked most: before the appointment, during, and the days after. If yours isn’t here, just ask.
What is a spray tan, exactly?
+
A cosmetic treatment where we hand-spray a fine mist of sunless tanning solution onto your skin. The active ingredient (DHA) reacts with the top layer of skin to create a natural-looking tan over the next several hours.
Is it safe?
+
Yes. DHA is FDA-approved for external use, and we use only professional-grade formulas. Millions of spray tans happen safely every year.
Will I look orange?
+
Not with us. Orange is a bad-product-plus-wrong-shade problem. We blend a custom solution to your undertone before we spray. You'll look sun-kissed, not spray-painted.
How do you determine the right shade for me?
+
Two things: your natural skin type and how well you tan in the sun. We use the Fitzpatrick scale, a six-type system dermatologists use to classify skin by how it reacts to UV, ranging from Type I (very fair, always burns, never tans) to Type VI (deepest, never burns, tans deeply). We'll walk through where you fall at your appointment, and whether you want a subtle glow or a bold, daring tan. Then we'll blend a custom shade you'll love.
How long does a tan last?
+
Five to ten days, depending on skin type, how quickly you exfoliate, and how well you follow the aftercare (that last one is the big lever).
Can I tan while pregnant?
+
Check with your doctor first. DHA is considered safe externally, but some providers recommend skipping spray tans during the first trimester. We'll defer to what they tell you.
Where does it happen: your place or mine?
+
Both are options. Our private, by-appointment studio in Liberty Hill is quiet, with easy parking and no waiting room. For events, groups, or whenever it's just easier, we pack the kit and come to you. You choose when you request your appointment.
How long does the appointment take?
+
Twenty to thirty minutes. The actual spray is ten to fifteen of that. The rest is setup, a quick consult on shade, and breakdown.
What do I wear during the tan?
+
Whatever you're comfortable in. Most people go nude, wear disposable underwear, or wear a swimsuit they don't mind getting a little bronzer on. There's no wrong answer. Keep in mind, if you're tanning for an event where the outfit matters, you may want to skip anything that could leave tan lines.
What do you need from me space-wise?
+
At our studio, nothing. We've got you. If we're coming to you, we need a roughly 4 × 5 foot area and a nearby outlet. We bring our own extension cord, pop-up tent, and everything else. A bathroom nearby is nice but not required.
Should I shave or wax before?
+
Yes, at least 24 hours before your appointment so your pores have time to close. Shaving right before leaves skin too irritated and affects how the tan takes.
I'm on Accutane, Retinol, or another drying medication. Will that affect my tan?
+
Yes. Accutane, Retinol, and other drying or exfoliating medications affect how the tan takes and how long it lasts. Skin that's peeling or very dry won't hold color evenly. If you're on anything like this, let us know before your appointment so we can adjust the prep or talk through whether it's the right time to tan.
Will the tan stain my clothes or sheets?
+
A little bronzer can transfer before your first rinse. That's why dark, loose clothing and an old set of sheets for the first night are your friends. It rinses out of most fabrics.
Can I sweat or work out after?
+
Not for the first 8 to 12 hours. Sweat or water during the set can leave streaks. After your first rinse, it's back to normal.
How do I make my tan last longer?
+
Moisturize twice a day, skip exfoliants, avoid oil-based products and bar soap, use a sulfate-free body wash, and stay out of chlorinated pools and hot tubs.
Where do you service?
+
Our studio is in Liberty Hill. Address shared when your appointment is confirmed. For mobile appointments, we cover Liberty Hill, Austin, and the surrounding areas. Outside that? Reach out. We'll let you know if travel is possible and what it costs.
How do I book?
+
For individual appointments, use our Request Appointment form. Tell us when you’d like us and what you’re tanning for, and your artist will reach out to confirm. For group events (prom, bridal, cheer, etc.), head to Groups or contact us directly.
When do I pay?
+
For individual appointments, you can pay via credit card, Venmo, or cash. For group events, payment is collected at the time of booking since your slot is reserved for you.
Cancellation policy?
+
Life happens. Let us know as soon as you can. Individual appointments cancelled with more than 24 hours' notice are free to reschedule. Inside 24 hours, a portion of the service may be charged to cover the held slot.
